00.com Is The Ugliest Website Ever
00.com makes my eyes bleed.
Make sure to visit BOTH the HTML and Flash sites (the Flash one is much worse in my opinion.) They should scrap the "IT & IS" company and just sell the domain, it would probably be a wiser decision.
That is pretty bad, though it doesn't top my all time favorite:
The Thai Ministry of Defense - though the English page deserves a particularly special mention as well.

Yeah that Flash one is pretty bad. 90's style drop shadows, ugly pixelated text (is that really Flash, whoa it is!) and "Coming Soon" when you go to products. Sweet.
"IS & IT ...". Are they just trying to confuse people are make them feel like there is some secret handshake to understand the website?

Oh god, are you kidding me? 00.com is a museum-quality masterpiece compared to Ideaction Media.
I used to use that site as an example in classes I taught a few years ago and I see it's still cavorting around as design vomit.

I would have replied sooner but I had to recover from the Ideaction Media-induced seizure.
All of those sites are terrible to the max, but I'm with forma3: that defense website takes the cake.

(rushes the front with hand in air) Wait! Wait! I have an even worse one! Takeawayfood.ie is the worst site I have seen in a long time. This site was promoted on Irish radio for a month with a supposed 100,000 euro marketing campaign. I can't bear it. Have a look at the designers own site - Orbrio - these professionals used Frontpage to build their own site. Oh dear.

Argh. Thanks for heaping more shame on my nation John. I think the Takeawayfood wins out. Have to say, I never heard radio ads for it though.
I swear, sometimes I think Ireland is about ten years behind the rest of the world in terms of webdesign. I could count the standards based designers on the fingers of one hand, unless they're just keeping a low profile.

I don't know man, I think they are tough competition for sites like 2Advanced.com
:) hehe
yea, there site blows. Not the worst I have ever seen, but its a boring site nonetheless.

Bah, not as ugly as your face.

Nigel! Where you been hiding?

It looks to me like someone let their 11 year old nephew play with flash for a few hours. After completing the tutorials, they decided to let him design their entire site.

Maybe not the worst design visually speaking (although not much better than the above mentioned)... but this is the worst site in general...

Re: Foundation Power
That is really awful. Not as in "my eyes are bleeding" like some of the aforementioned sites, but the plural of cars does not require an apostrophe. The copy "Hello our company is small, but we work good..." has so many things wrong with it, I don't even know where to begin. Plus they advertise a deal of a 20 page website for $150 -- I'm sure it's, um, top quality.
The Ideaction website gets my vote for the poorest use of Flash ever. Do they actually have a browseable website? I hadn't the patience to find it if they do (the 40 minute Flash intro threw me off the trail).

I dunno Pierce, 2advanced looks OK to me.
But yeah. That Thai MOD (English version) blew me away, I mean, the art was done in... Paint?
Also - how the hell are you meant to read ANYTHING in Foundation Power? Is it actually meant to be a site at all?
Have to agree with Brad on Ideaction having the worst use of Flash, ever, period. Even fter sitting through the terrible intro, the text was still illegible...

What these show is that, there is a lot of potential in the web design market. Untapped clients anyone?

It's like the early 90's!!
"Look kids, we know Flash!! Muwahahaha!! Go cry!!"
Posted by: Indranil | Sunday, July 31, 2005 at 01:54 PM
Oh come on, it's not that bad. Pity they waste that domain though.

You are correct Kish, the problem is a lot of these crap designs are made by the people that run their own company (or a dear friend) and they feel it is fine for what they need it for. So try talking them out of something that either they, or the neighbor kid did... its not easy, especially when you say that it will cost more than $20 for 150 pages.
Posted by: Brad | Monday, August 01, 2005 at 06:16 PM
Brad, that's very true. This issue is not helped by template sellers such as *ahem* Monsters... I feel that it is better to have no web presence rather than having such an eyesore. In fact many of these people do not get the point: A website should serve a function. All these flashy flashy sites are plainly irritating and what use is it of to a potential customer?
How are we ever going to convince these people that a good website can be a asset to their organization, if done properly? It is not easy, I agree.
Posted by: kish | Wednesday, August 03, 2005 at 07:46 AM
I think the single worst property of the site is the fact that you have to realize that you won't get a menu without clicking on the mysterious floating triumvirate of boxes. Navigation is supposed to be so easy that it almost navigates for you, especially in programable-to-the-nth-degree flash.

Just to add to the list, here's a start-up marketing consultant company based out of Dallas. Each of the symbols in the fake periodic table have a made up marketing buzzword with their respective definitions.

BTW - nice blog.

i don't know, i think this site is pretty bad: http://www.iii-interactive.com/
although, those others are quite bad...

Ideaction Media is bad.. agreed, but I have to admit I did get a laugh out of it. But, just for a test, let this page load and start working on something else in the background.. Tell me what happens to you. In my case, I started screaming at the neighbor for no reason and chewed off two nails.
